Seventh Book Out

by guan hong on 17 August 2008 at 11:36 am

A Saturday book out this time and it rained in the afternoon. I was suppose to go picnic with my girlfriend but because of the rain, we decided to just bring our food to East Coast Park to eat and cycle. The day was short as we met only around 4pm in the afternoon.

Fourth Book Out

by guan hong on 20 July 2008 at 6:35 pm

My fourth book out on Friday, which is also one of my most worrying book out because I will not be able to to book out the next week and will have to go for my 6 days field camp.

But I enjoyed my days during this book out too.

Will be back on first of August.

Second Book Out

by guan hong on 6 July 2008 at 5:13 pm

A very short book out this time round. Only got to book out on the Saturday morning at 10:50am. And now, I am going to book in again later in the evening. Actually, in around 2 hours time.

I didn’t have much time to do anything that I really want to this week as it was too short. Looking forward for the next book out.

First Book Out

by guan hong on 28 June 2008 at 8:54 am

After two weeks of immediate confinement, which the army call it the “adjustment period”, I finally get to book out for the first time. I am feeling pretty good after not seeing Singapore and all the usual civilian stuff for two weeks. All I have been seeing at Tekong are just the four faces of the walls and endless trees and forests.

While booking out feels great, I will have to book in back in a day time, on Sunday.

New Chapter of Life

by guan hong on 9 June 2008 at 1:37 am

Three Fridays ago(23 May 2008) was my graduation day. That marks the end of my days as a student in my tertiary institution. 3 years in Temasek Poly was amazingly fast and I could still remember very clearly the first day I started lesson in the school, and then now I am graduated! Everything is just so fast.

So after these 3 years, I got a Diploma certificate. Nothing fascinating actually since it is just a paper qualification. But what I thought is more fascinating were the days and experiences I had there.

Last Friday(6 June 2008), it was my last day working in TP. So this again marks another end of my days as a staff in Temasek Poly. I kind of feel a sense of poignant when I know I suddenly have to leave this place and begin a new chapter of life.

I left the school on Friday at around 4:12pm and went to walk round the school. I walked back the different routes that I used to walk since my first year until the third year. I also took pictures with my iPhone as I tour round the place. Later at 5:30pm, I walked to the busiest bridge for the last time, with my bag full of items that I brought back from my office desk, step down the flight of stars to the bus stop, and waited for my bus to meet my girlfriend at Lido.

This Friday(13 June 2008), I will be leaving for Tekong Island for my National Service. For the next 2 years, I am going to experience being a soldier after watching so many military movies.

I will have to stay in the camp for the first 2 weeks of my Basic Military Training. Honestly, I am feeling worried yet eager to know how it will be like to live in a barrack. In fact, I feel more than that especially as the day gets closer. It is a feeling that is infused with so many senses that I couldn’t describe in words.

In anyways, I hope everything will turn out to be good.

Interactive Charity at Fun@IDA

by guan hong on 14 May 2008 at 11:18 pm

This is the first time the Interactive Charity Engine gets a proper fabricated box and deployed at the Fun@IDA event on 25 April 2008. It was an event that the IDA held for their internal staff at the Suntec Rock Auditorium. The Interactive Charity Engine was there to help to raise funds from the attendees for the Chesire Home.

This time round, I thought it could be interesting to have a visualiser to see the number of contributions made throughout the event…

A simple AIR application
